Redhead Beach
Are you considering having your photography session at Redhead Beach? I have included a number of photos from a solo maternity session, a family session as well as a newborn session to give you a good idea of what this location has to offer.
Redhead Beach is another wonderful location for so many reasons. It is also very centrally located suiting clients from Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Central Coast and also Sydney.
Similar to caves beach, in one direction there is the cliff and rocks in the background and in the other direction, the open sandy beach and ocean. We can get up close to the cliff for a dramatic rocky background and then head down the beach to the Sofer open sand. Redhead beach is another location that can feel like we have been to more than one spot. We can get up close tot the cliffs showing their sheer height, we can also climb up on the smaller rocks near the old watch tower to see the water stretch out below us to the horizon and then a little further to the open beach with natural reflections as the waller pulls into the ocean.
Redhead beach is much quieter than the inner city Newcastle beaches with less beachgoers particularly at sunrise. In winter, there are also generally not too many people around for a sunset shoot which can be lovely.
Redhead beach handles the suns position year round at both sunrise and sunset beautifully. I have a lot of client who choose outdoor newborn sessions and Redhead Beach is easily my favourite beach for these sessions. We have both shade and sun, perfect for summer and winter sessions. In winter, the sun rises behind the cliff so the beach gets an extended golden hour without harsh light. When the sun pops up over the cliff, it creates wonderful sun flares and still gives that full sun goodness.
Parking is easy year round and there is a cafe that opens early as well as toilets which is great for pregnant clients and children. There is plenty of space on the beach for kids to run around and play, there are rocks to explore making it an excellent choice for kids to keep them interested during our session.
The tides and swell can change the look of Redhead Beach though not as dramatically as Caves Beach, it does handle changes in tide nicely.
